Wendi and I had a chance to visit two new downtown Wooster eateries on Friday: One an Asian-fusion restaurant, and the other an artisan ice cream and sorbet company.
Basil is the Asian-fusion restaurant. We enjoyed lunch with Greg Long, and he introduced us to owner Anthony “Tony” Ly. The restaurant, an anchor store in the Merchant Block development, is beautiful inside, and the dishes were beautiful and delicious.

The artisan ice cream shop? None other than Cowhaus Creamery, which expanded into Wooster. It’s original location is in Oberlin. When Wendi and I heard Cowhaus was coming here, we could not wait to travel to Oberlin and try the ice cream. The Wooster location is smaller, but the ice cream is the same delicious frozen treat.

Owners Joe Bomback and Debby Krejsa spent some time with us, and Joe told us his wonderful story of how the musician/music producer came to become a maker of artisan ice creams and sorbets.

Basil has been open about four months, Tony said. Cowhaus Creamery? It opened Friday (Sept. 30), just in time for WoosterFest.
So, when you go to downtown Wooster today to visit WoosterFest, you might want to consider visiting these two establishments. You will not regret it.
