I celebrate my birthday for a week. I have been doing that for over 25 years now. However, there are some birthday weeks that are more memorable than others. Like the year that Bobby and I and 2 other couples took a long weekend in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Or the year that I brought home Mr. Thoms, a yellow long haired cat, to become part of our family.
Then there was the birthday week when I met Josh Krajcik.
Josh was playing a concert at the Wayne County Fairgrounds on June 8, 2013. Bobby was going to do video of an interview for The Daily Record. So he arranged for me to meet Josh. There were just a couple of people who were allowed to wait to see him in one of the buildings near the stage, who were not reporters.
My impression of Josh is that he is just a down to earth guy, who seems really nice and has this incredible voice. The other people were waiting to see him and Marianne Gasser made him a batch of pizzelles (an italian treat). When he got them, he was so excited. Then he told his band that they had to try them because they were so good.
The concert he gave was amazing. While he had a full band (guitars, drums and keyboards) backing him up, it is his deep, soulful voice that makes me want to listen to him. I’m sure he has sung the song “At Last” hundreds of times since he was on The X Factor. Yet, it still moves me when I hear it.
