I’m a dog that lives with a lot of cats. When I first moved into my forever home with my mom, Wendi, and my dad, Bobby, there were six cats that became my instant family. Like any self respecting dog, I made it clear who was boss in the house. Turned out that it wasn’t me -- at least not while Ariel was around. Through my four years of being in my home, the cat population has decreased. I know what you are thinking and I didn’t do anything to them! Most were just older and as life goes, they … [Read more...]
Napcation: Combining the Best Elements of a Staycation and Napping
Being the founder of a blog titled "Wendi's Weekend Trips and Whatnot" you would think that I keep busy going to new places all of the time. While this is mostly true, I also enjoy a good nap. (While some wives complain about football season, I see it as a chance to get a 2 hour nap on Sunday afternoons for 16+ weeks.) What is Cooking in that Trash Can? You Won’t Believe It
My brother-in-law, Shaun Vahl, loves to cook, and he loves to try new things. He also tries some crazy things. During the summer months, do not be surprised if his dishes contain beer, which he might have brewed at home. In the winter, cream cheese is a favorite ingredient of his. Today, I want to highlight perhaps the craziest cooking method he has ever sprung on the family: Trash Can Turkey. The first time he made it, I was shocked. Trash can turkey? For real? Yes, for real. I do not … [Read more...]

Normally, I just peruse the site stats provided by WordPress, but I wanted to get a little more granular, so I ventured over to Google Analytics in order to view a particular timeframe. Basically, I wanted to know what blog posts were resonating with readers so far this year. This is what I discovered: You like food ... and so do we. Here are the Top 10 posts of 2017, so far ... Gouda … [Read more...]
