Usually when a pet leaves our family for the Rainbow Bridge I let Owney write about them. He's written about Parker, Corky and Kirby. But this time, I wanted to write the post. Our Gracie girl died on July 13th, 2018. She lived to be almost 18 years old. Or at least that's how old I would guess her age to be. I think she was probably born in November 2000. I'd like to tell you the story of how Gracie came to be part of our family. At the time we were living in Hillsboro, Ohio. Bobby was a … [Read more...]
Dad’s Birthday Movie Marathon 2018
TRADITION! TRADITION! Can't you hear Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof shout it? I can. So why do I bring it up? Well, in my family, we like our traditions, especially our birthday traditions. And maybe one of my favorites is spending the day at the movies for my dad's birthday. This year was no different, although we did go a week early. (Maybe he is going to start a new tradition of celebrating for a week, like someone else we know.) Dad's one condition was that he wanted to see Ant-Man and The … [Read more...]
Five Things I Love About My Sunday School Class
My husband, Bobby, and I have been attending Parkview Christian Church for several years now. We started in 2003 when we move into the area from Hillsboro, Ohio. From that first visit, we fell in love … [Read more...]
Getting to the Hart of the Matter: Friends are Important
About a month or so ago, I received an invite to attend a friend's 50th birthday. In what seemed like two seconds after the invite, I received a text from my friend asking whether I was coming to the party or not because I hadn't clicked on the link and RSVP'd. I told him Wendi and I indeed were coming, and I found the link and indicated we would be intending the 50th birthday bash of Kenny Hart. I met Kenny, along with his fiancee, Dawn Hott, about a year ago through a mutual friend, the … [Read more...]
Tuskegee Airmen Exhibit at Wayne County Airport Inspires all to ‘Rise Above’
In case you haven't heard -- and it would be difficult because of the coverage of The Daily Record (see here, here, and here) -- The Red Tail Squadron/Tuskegee Airmen exhibit officially opens Wednesday at the Wayne County Airport. The exhibit features a movie theater, of sorts, nestled into the trailer of a semi. The sides pull out, providing space for a very wide screen and a crowd of about 30 people on the two sets of metal bleacher seats. There are two programs, a 15-minute and a … [Read more...]
