My favorite magician of all times, is my husband, Bobby Warren. He thankfully doesn't make this his full time job. (Have you any idea how much traveling full time magicians do?) However, because of his continual practice and training of the art, I have had the opportunity to see many magicians perform. Most recently I was able to see Scott Humston perform. This was on Sunday, March 13, 2016. He was performing at the Church of the Nazarene, in Wooster, OH. Bobby and Scott met at a … [Read more...]
Up(load) Periscope
I remember the first time I saw Periscope, a Twitter app that allows its users to stream video live, being used. It was during the Compassion Step Up walk. Parkview Christian Church's lead minister, Brian White, was using it while we were walking through each station. I was intrigued, but my first thought was, "Why doesn't Bobby, my husband, know about this." I am not tech savvy in the least. I might have a lot of tech kind of items, but it is only because Bobby has brought it home or … [Read more...]
Tonight We’re Gonna Party Like its 1878
Wendi and I were in Lodi on March 4, 2016, when I received back-to-back calls from the Wayne County commissioners' office informing me construction workers at the courthouse had found an elusive time capsule and at 2 p.m. it would be removed from the vault where it has been secured since 1878. For a newsman, this is serious business, but March 4 is not your ordinary day in my household: It's our anniversary date. The journalist in me wanted to head back to Wooster and be there to shoot … [Read more...]
East Meets (Mid)West: A Dinner for the Ages
On Friday, March 4, 2016, Wendi and I will be celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary. We have plans for the day: Head out to the Amish Heartland and enjoy a stay at the Berlin Grande Hotel. But, I was feeling good and wanted to cook Wendi a special dinner before our special day. I stopped at Buehler's on the way home thinking I would get some Certified Angus Beef top sirloin to cook and potatoes to bake. I picked up both of those items, but then I saw egg roll wrappers marked down. Then it hit … [Read more...]
With Two You Get Egg Roll
Tonight, February 24, 2016, my dad, Bobby, took me to one of the pet stores in town to do a little shopping. Usually my mom, Wendi, comes with us, but not tonight. It was just the two guys out on the town. Dad decided to take Mom's car, the HHR. But really, we all know it as my car. It is the one with the system set up for me to check everything out from my perch in the back. I know I've talked about car rides before, but I just love them! Now, when it comes to shopping, I would say I'm … [Read more...]
