The last time I attended a Memorial Day Ceremony in my hometown of Lodi, Ohio, was probably when I was in High School marching band. That would have been over 30 years ago. I don't remember what I thought or felt at that time. I probably was hot and tired from marching up Bank Street with a trombone. I can almost guarantee that I didn't really understand the magnitude of what we were doing or who we were honoring. Fast forward 30 plus years and thanks to the addition of social media, I … [Read more...]
Scouts Making Memorial Day Memorable
Bobby, my husband and I are having a quiet weekend dog sitting. However, because he works at The Daily Record, he is always looking for stories that will interest the readers. He went to the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio, to capture Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts from around North East Ohio decorating the headstones with flags. I want to use this post to express my gratitude for the ultimate sacrifice men and women gave to protect our freedom. Thank you! … [Read more...]
Basking in Wooster’s New Dunkin Donuts/Baskin-Robbins
I know what you're thinking, because I have thought it, too, but no, this is not becoming exclusively an ice cream blog. However, on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, the eagerly anticipated opening of the combined Dunkin Donuts/Baskin-Robbins finally occurred. I was super excited about Dunkin Donuts and on my way to work stopped for a donut. I didn't realize that I would be stopping by in the evening for ice cream. But hey, when my husband, Bobby, suggested we go, he didn't really have to twist my … [Read more...]
Cheesemaking is Easier Than You Think; Thanks to Ricki’s and Lehman’s

I have cooked in restaurants featuring continental cuisine, steaks, Italian food, Mexican food, gourmet food and fast food. Being Italian, I love to cook. Living in a heavily concentrated dairy area like Wayne and Holmes counties in Ohio (home to Smith's, a dairy operation, Smucker's, and award-winning cheesemakers like Guiggisberg Cheese), I … [Read more...]
Cleveland Half Marathon? Challenge Accepted!
My sister, Randi, and her husband, Shaun, are people that once they commit to something, they are committed. That is something I admire about them. However, when they said they were going to tackle a half marathon, I thought they were crazy. You see, if you are new to my blog, I am on the opposite of athletic. In fact, if you see me running, you better run, too, because something is chasing me. (I stole that from Facebook.) But Randi and Shaun accepted the challenge to run the Rite Aid … [Read more...]
