When my husband, Bobby and I traveled to New York City in July, we had the opportunity to try plenty of places to eat. Some we had planned to go--like Serendipity 3. We also had an idea of what we wanted to get in New York - - like New York style pizza, "real" bagels and something from a street vendor. (FYI regarding the street vendors, they cost too much - - or at least they do outside of the American Museum of Natural History.) But most of the time, we were just going with the flow. … [Read more...]
Owney the Dog has a Kitten, Crazy Kirby
My mom, Wendi, has a cold, so she asked me to write something for her blog. Since I haven't had any new adventures (you really can't have adventures when your parents don't take you with them) I thought I could give you an update on my pet cat, Kirby. Mom calls him "crazy kitten Kirby" and for good reason. That cat is crazy! Back in September 2015 Mom says her prayers were answered when Kirby came to live with us. She really thought I needed a pet so that I would leave the other cats … [Read more...]
Ways to Get Around New York City
When my husband, Bobby, and I went to New York City in July, I was more than a little nervous. See, I am a girl from a small town and while there was a time that I felt the draw of the city, that was a long time ago. Now I am much more comfortable in small towns and on two-lane roads. One of the … [Read more...]
Happy B-Lated B-day, Burger!
It wasn't until late Thursday night, July 28, that I found out I missed the birthday of the hamburger. That is the date when Louis Lassen in 1900 served the first hamburger sandwich. (It was out of Louis' Lunch in New Haven, Connecticut.) Turns out that we were there on July 27, 2011--but I didn't know it was the birthday then, either. I felt kind of like I did when I realized I had missed National Ice Cream day (July 17). Not exactly sad, but a little disappointed in myself that I hadn't … [Read more...]
Experiencing Serendipity in New York City
In the movie Serendipity, Sara, the female lead said she liked the word Serendipity because it means "fortunate accident." Dictionary.com gives one definition for the word as an "aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident." I think I like the dictionary's definition better, because I almost think that is how things happen for Bobby, my husband, and me. We often find things by accident. Well I guess I shouldn't say that our trip to New York City was an accident, because we … [Read more...]
