My vacation officially started Monday. I had no big plans for the week, just go through all of my magic that resides in storage cubes, draws, shelves, boxes, cases and whatnot. However, a text from friend and co-worker Jeanine got my mind thinking. We generally trade off getting Dunkin' Donuts for each other. She sent me a text informing me she almost got me an iced coffee, but remembered I had vacation. We exchanged some texts, but it wasn't until later I saw her last one. Then it dawned on me, … [Read more...]
Mighty Owney: Here He Is, To Save The Day!
I am by no means a super hero. I have no super powers like Underdog, but I do have canine intuition. I was called into action recently to save the day. OK, maybe "save the day" is a bit of a stretch. But if you were there and heard my dad, Bobby, talk about it, I did save the day. While maybe it had no impact on the economy or world peace, it impacted my family and my peace. Let me set the stage. My mom, Wendi, was signed up to go to a training in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday, March 23. … [Read more...]
In a Word, St. Paul Hotel in Wooster is ‘Beautiful’
Have you ever wanted to see something but wasn't sure how you could make it happen? I have. Ever since St. Paul Hotel opened in Wooster, Ohio, I have been curious to see inside. It is what is considered a … [Read more...]
Photography on the Fly on the Way to Mohican Lodge
When my husband, Bobby, and I went to the Mohican Lodge and Conference Center, in February, we got there by going the long way. We saw the Gorge and the Covered Bridge that day. (You can read about those adventures here.) When we went to the Lodge for our anniversary earlier in March, we traveled a different way. The way we took, brought us right by the Pleasant Hill Dam. If you have ever spent any time reading this blog, you should have deduced that of the two of us, Bobby is the much … [Read more...]
Iconic New York Hotel Closes Indefinitely; Glad We Visited
Tony Rizzo, host of The Really Big Show on WKNR-850 AM, recently talked about how an iconic hotel was closing. Being the experienced radio host he is, Rizzo didn't name the hotel, rather he teased it ... letting us listeners know he would be talking about it after the break. Well, I was in the parking lot of The Daily Record, where I work as a staff writer, and I was not going to wait until after the commercials. So, I Googled it. Come to find out, it is the Waldorf-Astoria. Wendi, my … [Read more...]
