From the moment I saw the trailer for "Patriots Day," a film depicting the April 2013 Boston Marathon bombings and subsequent manhunt for the two bombers, I wanted to see it. While I was in Wooster at the time of the explosions, two people, both in Boston that day, offered me glimpses in the tragedy and the capture of the perpetrators. The first was Kathryn Gabriele, a Wooster native who was running in the marathon, and the second was Seth Mnookin, someone I connected with at a conference for … [Read more...]
A Taste of the Homeland
Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good, which is exactly what I think happened on Wednesday, December 7. That day was my husband's birthday. He also loves a good pizza, with a particular affection for authentic Neapolitan pizza. 3 Palms Pizzeria provided the perfect pie to celebrate his birthday. As soon as … [Read more...]
Visiting Boston? Then You Have to Visit This Place

Wendi and I made the trip to Gillette Stadium and Patriots Place, and we went through the Patriots Hall of Fame and museum. I grew up in Revere, Mass., and liked the Patriots. I remember when Jim Plunkett was our quarterback. My favorite was Steve … [Read more...]
Stumbling Upon the Stone (Laboratory) on Lake Erie
When my wife, Wendi, founded this blog, the idea was to write about places we visited, restaurants where we ate and fun things we did. As we traveled throughout Ohio, and even the United States, one of the things we discovered is that we can never really leave Wayne County behind. Wayne County is the home of the J.M. Smucker Co., Smith Foods/Smith Dairy, the Certified Angus Beef brand and now Daisy Brand and GOJO hand cleaners. Another major player in Wooster/Wayne County is The Ohio State … [Read more...]
