It’s a funny thing when you get what you wish for and then you wonder what you were thinking. For example, I recently was speaking with my husband, Bobby, my official videographer/photographer, about my blog. I said something along the lines of “It’s called Wendi’s Weekend Trips and Whatnot, but I haven’t been on a weekend trip in a while.” Famous last words I think. Because the very next day I am caught up in a whirlwind.
You see Bobby, who just so happens to be a reporter for The Daily Record in Wooster, Ohio, gets a call about the work that Dr. Tony Tizzano does on the set of Mercy Street (that was a cool experience, read about it here), a PBS civil war medical drama. Then he (Bobby) texts me to look at the website and ask for an additional day off from work. “We’re going to Richmond, Virginia,” he says. “Richmond, Virginia is over 7 hours away,” I say. “You wanted to go on a weekend trip,” he says.
So here I sit, three days after returning from our trip to Richmond, and I am still exhausted. I know I just had a birthday (another great experience, which you can read about here), so I am not as young as I used to be, but this is ridiculous. All kidding aside, we had a great time. While we didn’t get to do as much touristy things that we normally do, we did a little. I (or Bobby) will be sharing that in future posts …
Like lunch at Cha Cha’s …
… and a trip to Main Street Station and the slave cemetery …
… and dinner at Sine Irish Pub …
… and a quick jaunt down to the Canal Walk …
… dessert at Sam Miller’s …
… and a late-night snack at City dogs …
Take a piece of advice from wise ol’ Wendi: do not plan on making a weekend trip out of a location that is 7-plus hours away by car … even if it is 3 days long, ’cause it’ll take you at least that long to feel like yourself again. Unless, of course ,you are made up of better stock than me! So, until my energy returns, enjoy this short post and photos.
