There are a lot of things from my adolescence that I don't care to remember. Junior High and High School are times that I think are best left in the past or at least the deep dark recesses of my mind. However, the music from that time of my life is still one of my favorite types. The 1980's top 40 pop with a few heavier metal songs, are my mojo if I want to get my heart pumping. And if you give me a Karaoke mic, well, you can probably guess that Love Shack will be a song that I select to sing, … [Read more...]
Carnival Cruise Impresses First Time Cruiser
I have never taken a cruise. They have always seemed appealing to me, but for someone who tends to get motion sick pretty easily (I can't even watch a home video without becoming nauseous), the idea of paying all that money and potentially being sick the whole time has prevented me from going on one. However, I enjoy listening to other people's experiences. If I can't do a thing, living vicariously through stories of others, well, that is the next best thing. I had the opportunity to do that … [Read more...]
You Have to Try Giordano’s Deep Dish Pizza
When Wendi and I were looking for Raising Cane's in the Columbus area in April 2018, I happened to notice it was near Giordano's, a franchise known for its Chicago deep dish-style pizza. I made a mental note of the restaurant because I wanted to come back some time to try the pizza. For the record, I am not a big fan of deep dish pizza -- but I was willing to see if this one would change my mind. I prefer Neapolitan/New York-style pizza, which is the kind I grew up eating in Revere, … [Read more...]
Cedar Point: Fast Lane and Steel Vengeance Collide
I have been going to Cedar Point for as long as I can remember. When I was a kid, my dad's company, Smucker's, would have their annual picnic there every three years. (They rotated between Cedar Point, Sea World and Clay's Park Resort.) I grew up riding the Blue Streak, Cedar Downs, the Mine Ride and all the others. We might only go once a year -- or maybe once every three years, but Cedar Point was the highlight of my summers. As an adult, I have't gone quite as often, until recently. … [Read more...]
Cleveland Museum of Art: Culture Well Within Our Reach
When my husband, Bobby, and I planned to do a day trip with his former co-worker, Linda Hall and her husband, Jon, we hadn't set any specific plans in place. (Jon and Linda are also the creators of Walking Ohio with Jon and Linda Hall.) The week before our scheduled outing, Linda contacted us with the suggestion of going to the Cleveland Museum of Art and a meal at nearby Little Italy. I couldn't remember if I had ever been to the museum and honestly, it never really was on my radar as a place … [Read more...]
