I'm not a big deli person. I like sandwiches just fine, but I'm talking roast beef or turkey or ham. I don't need pastrami or corn beef or anything exotic. So I was not overly enthusiastic when my husband, Bobby, suggested we try Mr. Zub's Deli and Bar. We were in Akron to attend the inauguration of Frank LaRose as Secretary of State on a recent snowy Saturday. I guess I'm still a little leery of delis after my time at Carnegie Deli in New York City. Let's just say I was not very impressed. … [Read more...]
Wendi’s Wild Night Learning to Ski
I have been "skiing" one time in my life. I say "skiing" because actually I spent more time on the ground or in the lodge. And that was 25 years ago--yeah, I said 25 years. So when my husband, Bobby, and I took a trip to Massachusetts to visit family for the holidays and our nieces and nephew and cousin said they were going skiing at Ski Bradford I thought it would be fun to give it a second try. This time though, I decided to not get frustrated if I fell down. I told myself I would take the … [Read more...]
Do It Yourself Ugly Sweater
I don't remember how many years that ugly Christmas sweaters have been in vogue. I only know that I have never invested in one. I think every year, that I'll finally breakdown and purchase one, but then I don't. This year I was sure I would. My co-workers had decided to have an Ugly Sweater contest during a carry-in lunch they were planning for Friday, December 14. So I faced a dilemma, do I buy a sweater or just attend the lunch? Or...do I make one myself? Well, I decided to see if I … [Read more...]
Some Enchanted Evening at Landoll’s Mohican Castle
There is just something romantic about a castle. I thrill at the thought of visiting one in Europe some day. But I found that I don't need to go so far to be swept away. I discovered this during a recent visit to Landoll's Mohican Castle. The Castle is celebrating it's Kingdom of Lights this holiday season (November 17, 2018-January 6, 2019). They have decorated each building with lights and piped in Christmas music to put everyone in the holiday spirit. I found out about the event through … [Read more...]
3 Fun Things to Do Around Columbus, Indiana
I had never heard of Columbus, Indiana until late summer this year. It was when my husband, Bobby, told me that a former classmate of ours from Cincinnati Bible College & Seminary (now Cincinnati Christian University), preached at East Columbus Christian Church. Our friend, Ron Bridgewater, asked if Bobby would come out and do a magic show for their Fall Festival. Bobby rarely turns down the opportunity to perform magic, so we decided to take a long weekend and visit the area of Columbus, … [Read more...]
