I participated in a 5K today. I say participated, because God did not create my body for running. The 5K was part of the Ohio Challenge Series Buehler's Heart & Sole event. There was a half marathon, 10K and a 5K Run/Walk. I don't know how many people participated-either walking or running-but my number was 498 and Bobby's was 499. I heard them announce that there were 12 teams that represented different organizations/groups. Bobby and I were part of The Village Network's team. Last … [Read more...]
Hamburgers Galore … and More
I love burgers. Where Bobby could eat pizza seven days a week, I could eat burgers. I'm famous in my family for the way I construct my burgers. In fact, as a child I was usually the last one to get done eating when we had burgers. It took me that long to get everything just right. A burger had to have salad dressing (think generic Miracle Whip), ketchup, mustard, tomatoes and pickles. I hate onions, so there was no place on my burger for them; they just ruin them. (Don't hate me onion … [Read more...]
Jamestown, N.Y., Loves Lucy
When Bobby and I made our trip to Niagara Falls, N.Y., we stayed in Jamestown, N.Y., near Chautauqua Lake. At the time, we had no idea that Jamestown was where Lucille Ball was born. For those who aren't sure who Lucille Ball is, she is the Lucy in the “I Love Lucy” TV show. As I understand it, even young people know her thanks to cable channels like “Nick at Nite.” Bobby and I stopped at a Welcome Center/Rest Area around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, that overlooks Chautauqua Lake. We … [Read more...]
Celebrate with Josh Krajcik
I celebrate my birthday for a week. I have been doing that for over 25 years now. However, there are some birthday weeks that are more memorable than others. Like the year that Bobby and I and 2 other couples took a long weekend in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Or the year that I brought home Mr. Thoms, a yellow long haired cat, to become part of our family. Then there was the birthday week when I met Josh Krajcik. Josh was playing a concert at the Wayne County Fairgrounds on June 8, … [Read more...]
Touching the (Niagara) Falls
I have been to Niagara Falls three times in my life. Once when I was 5, once when I was 19 and last weekend (July 23 through 25, 2015). The actual trip took just under 48 hours. My husband, Bobby, had never seen them until last week. If the truth were known, he might not have seen them yet if it hadn’t been for an episode of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, a Food Network show hosted by Guy Fieri. The episode highlighted Grover’s Bar & Grill in East Amherst, N.Y., just outside of … [Read more...]
