When I went to college right out of high school, I chose to go to Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana. While I was there the movie Hoosiers was released. It is a basketball movie. I am not a huge fan of basketball, but I went to see this movie. Why? Well, basketball is huge in Indiana and I was in Indiana, so I went to see the movie. And I loved it! It is a David versus Goliath type of film. Spoiler alert -- the small town Hickory Huskers win the championship game against the much bigger city … [Read more...]
My Tribute to Mr. Carasea: The Band Director Who Shaped My Life
I received sad news on July 11, 2019. That is the day I heard that Mr. Gerald Carasea, or Mr. C as his students' affectionately called him, passed away at the age of 68. I graduated from Cloverleaf High School over 30 years ago, but I remember fondly my time as a "band rat" under the tutelage of Mr. C. I have so many memories of Mr. Carasea. He was an inspiring person. He taught me the fundamentals of playing the trumpet when I was in fifth grade. He overlooked the fact that I forged … [Read more...]
Owney: My First Hotel Vacation
Being the beagle terrier mix of Wendi and Bobby Warren, the creators of this blog, has afforded me plenty of new experiences in my life. Sinking Our Teeth into Brown Bag Burgers

It's not exactly the mission of Wendi's Weekend Trips and Whatnot to try them all, but then again having the chance to try a new is always a winning opportunity for us. So when I made a trip with my husband, Bobby and my parents, Bud and Dolores to North Olmsted and found out there was a Brown Bag Burgers in town, I was interested. After reading a few reviews saying they were better than Five Guys ... well let's just say I had to see for … [Read more...]
Arthur Treacher’s Still Reeling Fish Lovers In
When I was a kid, I liked to go to Medina to eat out. Being from the Village of Lodi, restaurant options were slim in the 70's and 80's. You basically had to travel 20 minutes. Sometimes I was able to talk my parents into going to Arthur Treacher's Fish and Chips. There I could get my own boat of fish filets with "chips." To a girl like me who appreciates thicker fries they were way better than the french fries at McDonald's or Burger Chef. Plus I could get all the tartar sauce I wanted to dip … [Read more...]
