I don't know how many times I have driven north on State Route 3 out of Wooster, but rarely is there a time (during business hours) that Hartzler's Ice Cream Shoppe has an empty parking lot. I am usually on my way somewhere, so I haven't been able to stop by to try them at the shop. (I do visit them during the Wayne County Fair.) That is until Friday, June 24, 2016, which was due to the fact that my brother-in-law and sister-in-law came for a visit. My husband Bobby's brother, Carmine, … [Read more...]
A Pleasant (and Filling) Evening in Richmond, Virginia
This should be the final installment of our Richmond, Virginia trip (but Bobby informs me it won't be, because we did stop in Charlottesville, VA on the way home). For those of you just joining us, my husband, Bobby and I took a whirlwind road trip to Richmond so that we could visit the set of Mercy Street, a PBS/Lone Wolf Media medical drama that centers around the Civil War. Bobby was interviewing Dr. Tony Tizzano for The Daily Record. I went just to cross it off of my bucket list. The … [Read more...]
Sine: “This is It!” A Great Irish Pub in Richmond, Va.
As I shared in a previous post, my husband, Bobby and I made a speedy trip (relatively speedy) to Richmond, Virginia. Because of his job with the Daily Record in Wooster, Ohio and his connection with Dr. Tony Tizzano, of The Cleveland Clinic Wooster, we were able to visit the set of the PBS/Lone Wolf Media original series, Mercy Street, a civil war-era medical drama. While we were in town, we stayed at the Residence Inn in Downtown Richmond, which fortunately is within walking distance of … [Read more...]
P. Graham Dunn in Dalton: A Place Where Beauty Abounds
I like to visit places that are beautifully decorated. I think I appreciate them because I lack the natural talent for creating beauty. I definitely think it takes an artistic eye to make a room pleasing to the senses. Therefore, visiting P. Graham Dunn during the recent Cupcake Tour, was a real pleasure for me. It all begins when you drive into the complex. I say complex because it is so much more than just a store. The driveway is lined with light posts and banners that are very … [Read more...]
Jerry’s Cafe: Are These the Best Burgers in Orrville?
Back in April, when Bobby and I attended the Inaugural Cupcake Tour, we decided to end our adventure by grabbing a late lunch (or early dinner) at a restaurant in Orrville, Ohio. We really enjoy Ming Hing's lunch buffet, but it was too late for lunch. Our friend, Jessica Robinson, had told us about Jerry's Cafe. She said that they have really good burgers. The truth is that they advertise their burgers as the "best in town." Given my propensity for red meat, especially for burgers, I had to give … [Read more...]
