This past Tuesday, July 26, I got to spend time with my dad, Bud, at the movies like we do every year for his birthday. As I've said in another blog post, this is a tradition that started back in 1985 with the movies Silverado, Pale Rider and Cocoon. Since 1985 I think we have only missed one or maybe two years of our movie marathon. My dad and I love movies. We could probably sit and watch movies all day, every day, for a week. So, that we only take one day out of the year for our marathon is … [Read more...]
Experiencing Serendipity in New York City
In the movie Serendipity, Sara, the female lead said she liked the word Serendipity because it means "fortunate accident." Dictionary.com gives one definition for the word as an "aptitude for making desirable discoveries by accident." I think I like the dictionary's definition better, because I almost think that is how things happen for Bobby, my husband, and me. We often find things by accident. Well I guess I shouldn't say that our trip to New York City was an accident, because we … [Read more...]
These are a Few of My Favorite Things (Blog-wise)

Seeing things from the perspective of my dog, Owney. It wasn't until I started my blog that Owney was able to … [Read more...]
Midtown Manhattan Movie Tours Mania!

I checked out Groupon to see what deals I could find. That's how I stumbled across the Midtown Manhattan Movie Tours. I really like movies, so the idea of getting to see the filmed locations of over 50 different movies was just about the most exciting thing regarding our trip to New York. After a few scheduling … [Read more...]

I read a book once by Andy Andrews, titled The Butterfly Effect: How Your Life Matters. The gist of the book describes that very thing -- how seemingly insignificant decisions that people made ended up having a lasting effect. I wonder if Willis Carrier, the "Father of Air Conditioning" had any idea how much of an impact his invention of the modern air conditioner in … [Read more...]
