When I was a kid I always looked forward to fall, not just for the cooler weather, but also because of the new TV shows and new seasons of my favorite TV shows starting again. Thankfully for me, an avid couch potato, I don't have to wait to get my fix of new episodes until fall for some of my favorites. Now new seasons start in January, too. A show that is beginning again that I am so excited for is Mercy Street. It is a PBS historical medical drama that is set in Alexandria, Virginia during the … [Read more...]
Vegging Out In 2017, But Not Like You Think
I heard a quote recently by Stephen King, I think. It went something like, "inspiration is for amateurs, the rest of us get up and get to work." For someone like me, who is feeling a bit of writer's block, I am convicted. I by no means would ever think to put myself in the same stratosphere as a writer like Stephen King, but I do fancy myself as a semi-professional writer. (I do have a couple of little books for sale on Amazon!) Yet, here I am hoping for inspiration to come upon me as I type … [Read more...]
Serving Up Blog Leftovers From 2016
Wow, we're in the year 2017! Seems like just the other day that we were in 2016.(I know, we were, I just think it is funny to say. I'm like my dad in that way.) So looking back over the year, I realize there were things we did but never wrote about, that I want to get off my whiteboard. Let me explain. We erase them from … [Read more...]
It’s Beginning to Sound a Lot Like Christmas
My husband, Bobby, and I don't have any children. We have four cats and one dog. (If you've even read my blog just a little bit, you will have met Owney, our dog. He's a regular guest writer for Wendi's Weekend Trips and Whatnot.) I say that to let you know that I've never experienced the staying up most of the night to assemble this or that toy. I've never been awaken from sleep during the wee hours of the morning to see what Santa left under the tree. I've never had to listen to an obnoxious … [Read more...]
Families Light the Way to the Christmas Spirit
I don't decorate for Christmas. I know that is almost sacrilege. I have what I would consider 5 really good reasons I don't. They are named Gracie, Buddy, Mr. Thomas, Kirby and Owney (our cats and dog). Don't get me wrong, I actually really love Christmas decorations. And one of my favorite ways to get my Christmas decoration fix is to look at other people's decorations. I am related to a couple of Christmas decorating enthusiasts. My Aunt Pam's husband Domenick decorates the house both … [Read more...]
