I heard of Sweet Moses around Christmas 2017. Due to the fact that I had transferred to Human Resources Department at The Village Network, I had the privilege of sharing the gift from one of our vendors. That gift was a box of Sweet Moses chocolates. The candy was amazing, but because I had never heard of the brand before, I had to investigate. Turns out that the chocolates come from Sweet Moses Soda Fountain and Treat Shop! I was super excited to find this out. Ever since we went to … [Read more...]
The Big Apple — Oh, How I Missed Seeing You This Year!
O.K. I never, ever thought I would be sad to not have traveled to New York City in the summer. But after watching several of our friends post pictures on Facebook about their travels to the Big Apple...well, let's just say I was more than slightly jealous. Adding salt to the wound is just about every TV show we have watched lately have been filmed in NYC. Every establishing shot, either my husband, Bobby, or I will say, "We've been there." As a way to deal with my melancholy for not having … [Read more...]
Tecumseh! Drama: Shawnee History Comes to Life
When my husband, Bobby, and I lived in Hillsboro, OH, we were just a county over from Ross County. Ross County is the county in which the Outdoor Drama, Tecumseh! is performed. Sadly, we never made it to Chillicothe to see the drama, which based on the Tecumseh! website is the "epic life story of the legendary Shawnee leader as he struggles to defend his sacred homelands in the Ohio country during the late 1700’s." We had friends that went, but for some reason, when you live close to a tourist … [Read more...]
The Village Point Parlor Worth a Trip to Hayesville
Earlier this summer, my good friend, Jan Maxwell, tagged me in a post on Facebook about a new place in Hayesville, Ohio, that served pizza and ice cream. Hayesville is a small village just a few miles off of US Route 30. It looked like a place I'd like to visit, but honestly, though, I never heard of Hayesville... and my husband, Bobby, and I travel that stretch of highway a lot. It is funny the things you miss along the way to somewhere else. So when Jan and I made plans to meet up to … [Read more...]
Bubba’s 33 gives this Boston boy a taste of home
When a friend of ours posted on Facebook he was beginning a new journey with Bubba's 33: Pizza-Burgers-Beer restaurant, I checked it out and immediately wanted to try it. The closest one to us is in Canton, and we decided to make a day of it Sunday by catching a movie and a late lunch. Wendi and I do not drink, so we were not enticed by the beer, but I am a fan of pizza, having grown up in an Italian family in an Italian neighborhood just outside Boston, and Wendi loves burgers. We were … [Read more...]
