Question: What do you get when you put my sister, Randi and her husband, Shaun together with a new holiday tradition, decorating gingerbread houses? Answer: Competition galore.
On Sunday, December 20, we, (this included Mom and Dad, (Bud and Dolores), great nephews, (D’Aveon and Noah) Randi, Shaun, Bobby and me) as a family decided to decorate a gingerbread village. Randi had gotten two sets of gingerbread villages that included frosting and candy as well as the gingerbread building pieces. Since the boys are in town during Christmas break, she thought we could start this tradition.
Bobby actually decided to serve as chroniciler of the event and did not decorate any gingerbread structure. He took pictures and then served as the official, unbiased judge. So at the end of the event, he delivered his different awards.
The awards included:
Best Productivity and Efficiency–Shaun
Best Cute Design–Randi
Best Teamwork–Noah and me
Best “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” Theme–D’Aveon (He actually ate his structure before we could get a final picture.)
Best Simple Design–Mom
Turns out that Dad just watched, too, but he had a good time. Randi is already thinking of ways to improve upon the event. This includes more frosting, more candy and maybe even bigger structures, like a gingerbread mansion.
